Who I am
Welcome to TechTard, a dedicated space where technology meets honesty. Founded in 2024 on the back of decades of tech reviews written in French, the blog aims to become a trusted source for in-depth technology reviews and analysis.
This project is a one-man show, and will stay like that. I am a tech amateur who dabbles in computing, audio engineering, gaming, and consumer electronics. I try to bring a unique perspective, sometimes professional, sometimes naive, on the latest products. I just try to make sure my content remains thorough and well-rounded.
I believe technology should enhance our lives, not complicate them. That’s why I focus on real-world usage rather than just technical specifications. My goal is to help you make informed decisions about the products that will truly serve your needs.
My review philosophy
At TechTard, integrity is non-negotiable. My reviews follow these strict principles:
Completely independent testing
Every product I review is tested extensively in real-world conditions. I get products directly from manufacturers with the explicit understanding that my opinions cannot be influenced.
Some manufacturers decide to leave their samples with me, some others will claim them back after my review. Their internal processes on the matter do not impact the content of my revies.
No manufacturer or brand representative ever reviews my content before publication. What you read is exactly what I think—no exceptions.
Manufacturers are always welcome to reach out to me in case they notice a factual mistake in one of my analyses. If I am in the wrong, I will edit my reviews accordingly, pointing out my mistake and the requested correction.
Zero sponsored content
I do not accept payment for reviews. Ever.
Unlike many tech publications, I don’t publish “sponsored reviews” disguised as editorial. When you read a review on TechTard, you can be certain it represents my honest assessment, not a paid advertisement.
Transparent methodology
I test each product for a minimum of a week in everyday situations. My review process includes standardized benchmarks alongside subjective evaluation across multiple use cases and environments.
I follow detailed testing protocols specific to each product category. These protocols are continuously refined based on industry developments and reader feedback as well as what other media representatives and influencers are bringing to the scene.
How I handle manufacturer relationships
I maintain close relationships with manufacturers, especially as my day job has me interacting with me in an actually professional capacity that puts food on my table.
I however enforce the following strict boundaries:
- I always communicate transparently when I am reviewing products from a company I used to work for or I am currently working for
- I explicitly inform manufacturers that sending products when I did not request them will not guarantee coverage or positive reviews
- I refuse gifts beyond the sole scope of the product sent to me if a price tag higher than 50 euros can be attached to it. The sole exception to that rule would be travel expenses to attend exclusive/embargoed product presentations, as I deem them connected to the review process.
My commitment to you
I value your trust above all else. If you ever question my independence or have concerns about a review, I encourage you to reach out. My door is always open for discussion, clarification, and even respectful disagreement.
Thank you for choosing TechTard as your guide through the complex world of consumer technology. I promise to continue putting your interests first in everything I publish.
